Woody Allen Museum To Open in Barcelona

Mediapro Group founder Jaume Roures recently announced plans for the first Woody Allen Museum in the world which would be located in Barcelona in a building called La Llotja de Mar on Passeig Isabel II 1, just minutes from Barceloneta metro station. La Llotja is a neoclassical building from 1883 which presently hosted a former school of arts and crafts that has fallen into disuse and is empty since December 2009. The museum would be called the Woody Allen Center.

His oscar-winning 2008 film Vicky Cristina Barcelona, filmed primarily in Barcelona will be the focus of this new cultural centre. Barcelona City Hall have yet to green light the project which is expected to take two years to complete. The museum ticket price would be similar to a cinema ticket and the visitor could walk around 2000 square meters.

Woody Allen regularly visits Barcelona and was again here last December where he celebrated new year’s eve at Barcelona’s opera house, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, listening the New Orleans Jazz band…
